Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Use a grinding machine to grind castings     

  • Load and unload castings into bins.

  • Dress the grinding wheel when necessary

  • Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and clean work area at the end of each shift

  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

  • All production workers are expected to be available to work in all areas of production.

 

Physical Working Conditions:

The position is in the foundry and involves:

  • Standing, walking, balancing, reaching.

  • Bending, crouching, standing, stooping, lifting, & feeling for long periods of time

         throughout the day.

Efficiently and safely perform all tasks involved with the maintenance of company’s machinery, equipment, vehicles, and facilities.  Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:           

  •  Maintain and or repair machines, tools, patterns, and vehicles

  •  Work on special projects assigned by management

  •  Report all problems and break downs to management

  •  Complete written reports as required to record maintenance actions

  •  Perform other related duties and assignments as required

  •  Improve or repair Company’s fixtures and facilities.

 

Other Required Duties

Fill-in for various job positions in the shop as needed

FOUNDRY LAB TECHNICIAN 

FULL TIME

1ST SHIFT

$15 hr.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Efficiently perform all tasks involved in the production of company’s products, follow standard work methods, and develop, practice, and direct safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.  Responsible for implementing and overseeing the operation and the efficiency of the foundry lab to ensure the utmost in product quality, customer satisfaction, and company safety.  Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

 

Primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

This position will support the ongoing development and maintenance of the foundry lab and includes, but is not limited to, the following:        

  • Improve reliability of new product development processes

  • Maintain company lab testing standards

  • Perform and oversee all the lab processes to ensure accuracy in testing and quality

  • Read blue prints for PPAP

  • Be able to perform testings on samples and follow-up from blue print stage to final production

  • Review products, testing processes and systems on an ongoing basis to determine where improvements can be made.

  • Take and log photographs of sample testings

  • Research and respond to special instructions from customers

  • Be able to work in the Shell Core & Oil Core rooms on all processes and work the B&P Molding Machine

  • Count and inspect casting for defects.

  • Perform other related foundry duties and assignments as required.

  • Maintain and file documentation needed for reporting to controlling customers, supervisors and agencies.

  • Perform various foundry related testing not limited to just the following:

 

  • Sand Testings

  • Spectrometer measurements

  • Alloy testings

  • Brinnell Hardness testings

  • Sample layouts when needed (PPAPS, etc.)

  • Prepare and track sample castings for shipping for certification

  • All production workers are expected to be available to work in all areas of production as needed.

  • Communicate and actively participate in production meetings with the manufacturing team

  6. Proficiency with precision measuring tools

  7. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Pull, lift, transport and direct ladle over molds.

  • Pour molten iron into the molds.

  • Fill ladle with molten iron from electric tilt furnace.

  • Clean and empty ladle.

  • Help shifters and shake-out personnel when necessary.

  • Clean and organize the pour deck at the end of the shift.

  • Remove slag from ladle, add elements and/or chill iron

  • Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and clean work area at the end of each shift

  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

  • All production workers are expected to be available to work in all areas of production.

 Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The primary functions include, but are not limited to:

  • After a review of the tooling, instructions will be given on placing the proper gating on foundry patterns and rigging of the core boxes

  • Perform cutting, forming, and shaping wood components to be used on the patterns. Use of circular saws, band saws and table saws. Also using belt sanders and orbital sanders.

  • Familiarity with gating, risering and foundry methods.

  • Ability to assist in the planning and layout of gating on patterns.

  • Ability to review and interpret blueprints of parts to be cast

  • Ability to lay out patterns into sections according to shape of casting, to facilitate removal of pattern from the mold, including coring, gating, and other foundry practices with the appropriate marking and measuring devices.

  • Set up patterns for next day production molding lines.


 

Required Experience:

  • Ability to review drawings when needed

  • Knowledge of foundry processes is preferred

 

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
